I got up that morning. The morning that I'd go to Camp Half-Blood. I was incredibly nervous but excited. The fact that I would not see my dad didn't bother me all that much. I could always send him an Iris message. I packed my bag with some shirts, some pants and a sweater. My dad called from downstairs:'Kiara hurry, breakfast is ready!' I quickly put on my shirt, a grey one with a rainbow print. And my shorts, regular blue ones, with a ripped part on the left side. I ran downstairs. 'Here I am dad!' I stood still and spread my arms:'Tadaaa.' He smiled, and we sat down at the table. My dad had baked pancakes, my favourite dish. We ate quietly until he broke the silence:'Kiara are you ready to go to Camp Half-Blood?' Suddenly I lost the interest in my food, I just poked it with my fork. 'I just... ehm... dad? If my mother is a Greek Goddess as you have told me, who is it?' He said nothing, he didn't know. All he said is that she'll claim me, one day. Sure... 'Dad, I'm just going to grab something for the walk.' I walked to the kitchen and took an apple. I put it in my bag and returned to my dad. 'Let's get going.' He said and we walked to the car. Hermes, please be with us...
As we drove away from the street I felt a lump in my throat, I was really leaving my home and going to this Camp Half-Blood. I didn't know what would be waiting there for me. If all those myths where true, all the monsters and creatures, I didn't really want to know yet. The main goal was to get there save and sound.
I thought back to the monster of last week, I was taking a hike with my dad across the forest when a horse appeared, but not just any horse, it looked as if it where to be capable of absolutely anything. A meat-eating horse. I had stood still in my tracks, so did my dad. He had hissed 'RUN.' That is exactly what we did, and so did the horse. It had almost caught up when for some reason I had grabbed my rainbow pencil and fell on my knees, arms above my head to protect myself. I stuck the pencil up in the air and somehow managed to stab the horse. It had turned into the monster dust, leaving only a pile of dust, which blew away with the wind. My dad came running up to me and once home we decided I'd go to Camp Half-Blood. Now here I was on my way.
Thoughts run trough my head, where will I stay, who is my mother, how does it work there?
I felt the special case that I had made for my pencil, which apparently was some sort of sword, on my leg. It was there, that did make me feel save.
After a couple of hours we stopped for a break, we ate something and continued. We arrived at the edge of the forest that where home to Camp Half-Blood when the sun was going down. I took my backpack and swung it over my shoulders. My dad came with me, what he hadn't told me is that he wouldn't drop me off there, just leave me at the gate. But I didn't know. We walked for a good five minutes when I heard twigs break behind me. Instinctively I took my pencil and pressed the eraser part. My blade formed in my hand, it had a vague rainbow light on it. The monster stayed quiet. My dad told me to keep on moving, his tone scared. Never before had he been that. We ran to the hill and could see the gate. "Welcome to Camp Half-Blood"
I ran as fast as I could but the huge hellhound caught up. I slashed my sword at its ugly head. A cut came across the side of the head. He bit at me but I dodged it. It continued for a couple more times when it decided to change tactics, he ran to my dad who was helpless. I charged after him. My dad ducked aside and I stabbed the hellhound in his back. It turned around and I hit him on the side. His massive paw cut my arm but I kept going, this creature had to die, really soon. I launched another time and hit him in the chest. The hellhound threw me on the floor. This is how I die...
I closed my eyes and stuck the sword upwards. I yelled of panic. Nothing happened. I slowly opened my eyes, to find myself covered in monster dust. I killed it. One rainbow pencil to rule them all!
My dad ran up to me and gave me a goodbye hug. "Kiara, go quickly, I have to go dear.' He ran off. I stood there and remembered that I was not yet save. I made a drawing movement and my sword turned into my pencil again. I grabbed my wouned arm and walked as fast as I could. Once I came at the gates I yelled:'Hello, I need some help here!'
The pain in my arm got worse with the minute. I bit my lip, don't cry Kiara you are save, kind of.
